Cherie Messick

Lance and I just found out yesterday that his daughter has cancer (already in stages 3-5). She is only 36 years old, a single mom of a 6 year old. Her name is Cherie Messick and she does not have God in her life, so this is a real hard time for her. I pray that this experience will open her up to God's love and wonderful help.

Dear District Family,

Mike Brown's father, Lowell Brown, peacefully went to heaven on Wednesday night. Lowell Brown, 79, was a song evangelist in Church of Nazarene for over 40 years. He formed the Grace Trio and for two decades traveled throughout Florida ministering through song. He served at camp meetings and revivals from Indiana to Pennsylvania and to Florida.

Mike says his dad was a great dad and a great husband to his mom for 57 years.

Mike and Sue would also like to thank the Virginia District family for all the prayers and phone calls.

Hi,

Please continue to keep my friend and her daughter (to be adopted) in your prayers. As you may remember, they were air lifted from New Orleans to Georgetown University Hospital in DC where she was placed top priority on the transplant list. Over the weeks she has improved and was discharged only to return to the ER. She, again, has been placed on the top of the list for transplant for liver and partial bowel.

This is a wonderful website that Georgetown has set up so friends and family can keep up-to-date on the condition of their loved ones.

• David Bailey (Staunton) has requested prayer for Brother Leonard Ketcherside, retired elder on the district. Brother Ketcherside is in ICU at University of Virginia hospital in Charlottesville with a number of complicating factors and health issues. The doctor's most recent conference with the family was not very encouraging. Of course perspective changes when we talk with doctor Jesus. Please lift the Ketchersides in your prayers. We'll keep you posted on developments.
• Please pray for our Hispanic Family Camp. Nearly 300 persons are in attendance. Great spirit. Good things are happening.
• Pray for Victor Philip Jr, son of Victor and Maggie Philip (Norfolk Calvary) as he is on a tour of duty in Iraq. Victor and Maggie have requested that we pray for God's protection and blessing on his life.
• Rev. Linwood Johnson, retired elder and father of Mary Lewis (Hampton Saunders Road), is in Maryview Hospital with a heart arrhythmia and may require a pacemaker.

Hello friends,Just a quick prayer request. I have a dear friend named Charles Hackett.He radically accepted Jesus Christ into his life March 5th of 2006. He hasgrown so much in just over a year. He has had so much persecution in thattime. Members of his family has turned against him because of his faith.It is a very long story, but his wife has brought false accusationsagainst him and he has to be in court on Tuesday the 21st of August,2007.It is a fact that she is not telling the truth, yet he is still prayingfor her, that she will feel the conviction of the Holy Spirit and tell thetruth. If she doesn't tell the truth and the Judge sides with her, Charlescould go to jail. Please be praying with us that the truth will come out,Charles will be set free and God will get the Glory.Also, my team and I leave for Rwanda, Africa on Wednesday, August 22adthrough September 3rd. As we move into the month of July, please pray for ministries being considered at this time. Divorce care, Grief Care, Celebrate Recovery and Parents night out.

Pray for the planning of our first Angel Food Sunday. Pray that God will give us wisdom in how to hold it and what it should look like, pray for wisdom in getting the word out to our Angel Food people. Pray for how you can become a part of planning this date.

We will start looking into a new building. We will let you know if we can start to look now or if we need to wait till a closer time of the end of our lease. We pray that we will be given the option of moving out early without penalty so we will have longer to look. Pray for God's will in this situation.

I am asking for prayer from my prayer warriors PLEASE. Most of you know the story and know that I have been standing and praying and believing in the restoration of my marriage for 6 months. Several events took place this last weekend leading to my asking for you to please take the time this week to pray for Tom harder than you ever have. Over the course of the last 6 months Tom has turned his back on God, his family and his belief in answered prayers. He has said that he may be moving out on the 15th, 5 days from now. After several very long conversations yesterday Tom is beginning to doubt and break. He cried before me first time in several months. He told me that he has told God that he has 5 days to come down and touch him and change his heart and his situation. He said he wants to see if God is big enough to answer his prayers and my prayers. Obviously He is answering. Tom just can’t see it. I am asking as I fast and pray this week that you please be in prayer with me. Do as God leads you and pray that Tom will see and hear God in a very obvious way and his heart will change and he won’t move out and he will want to stay at home and restore our marriage. I have prayed that God use me as a vessel to show Tom unconditional love and caring. I thank you for forwarding this prayer request to all and any prayer warriors who will honestly pray with us for the restoration of my husband. I know God is big enough and I know that He does answer prayers.

These are events that we are hopeful of being able to meet new people, help people and we are praying for a chance to share Jesus with those God brings our way.
